The Carib Beer and Friends of Cricket Heroes Cup First Division Two Day Competition continues this weekend with two matches in Georgetown.
Everest Cricket Club is scheduled to travel to Malteenoes Sports Club in a contest that holds value to both teams as both look to get their hands on the title. Over at the Demerara Cricket Club ground, Transport Sports Club and GNIC will both be looking to redeem themselves after recent losses to Malteenoes and DCC respectively.
Everest Cricket Club will be boosted by the return of Amir Khan, who was on duty with the West Indies under-19 team, which placed fifth in the ICC under-19 World Cup in Australia.
The side from Camp Road will also be boosted by the return of Guyana under-19 batsmen Chanderpaul Hemraj and Mohan Ramdeen and will look to put pressure on an in-form Malteenoes team, riding on consecutive outright wins, including a recent innings victory over Transport Sports Club.
GNIC and Transport meet in a crucial encounter as both teams seek points to remain in contention for the title of Carib Beer and Friends of Cricket Heroes Cup champions.
Derwin Christian smashed a belligerent hundred while Christopher Barnwell took five wickets, when a strong DCC side met a deflated Transport recently. However Transport will look to bounce back and put on an improved show against GNIC, which also suffered a recent defeat.
Steven Jacobs scored a century and had a match haul of six wickets when GNIC fell to Malteenoes at home in a previous encounter.
Both games are set to commence at 9.30 am and cricket supporters can expect competitive contests with both sides in each game evenly matched.
