The National Community Policing executive lauds the members of the community policing fraternity for their dedication to crime fighting, noting that their service had led to numerous arrests.
According to a press release, last month the Number 68 Community Policing Group was heavily involved in the search for seven-year-old Saheed Makanauth, who was later found dead. The group assisted in the arrest of a suspect and made a financial contribution to the child’s family for his burial.
More recently, a CPG member responded to a call for help from a young woman who had been the victim of an armed attack as she traversed the Industrial Access Road at Ruimveldt. At great personal risk, the CPG member chased the suspect who was soon arrested by a passing mobile police patrol.
The executive noted that the aforementioned cases are two of the most recent instances where CPG members assisted in the upkeep of law and order. As such it extends gratitude to them for their dedication and urges them to continue to serve their communities.
