Good Hope woman’s death being probed

Police have launched an investigation into the death of a Good Hope, East Coast Demerara mother of four, who died on Thursday, after her relatives said they suspected there was foul play.

Dead is, Sahodra Badal, 54, who died at the Balwant Singh Hospital, where she had been admitted as a patient since August 30. A post-mortem examination is expected to be performed on her body after a report about the suspicion of her cause of death was made to the police by her relatives.

When contacted yesterday, the woman’s husband and her children denied all the allegations of foul play, while stating that she died as a result of medical conditions. They even showed this newspaper a medical report from the hospital, which gave her cause of death as hypertension, diabetes and heart failure.

Her husband stated that his wife was living with diabetes, heart failure and hypertension for years now but was never hospitalised. He added that he spent a lot of money managing his wife’s health over the years. Her husband also mentioned that his wife and her relatives were never close and that she had even stop speaking to them.

Her two sons, who were also present, said that their mother had banned her sister and her brother from coming to her home due to a family feud that has being going on for years.
