The Ministry of Human Services is working with the contractor of the Centre for Rehabilitation and Reintegra-tion at Onverwagt,
Region Five, to ensure that the facility is operational by December, according to Minister, Jennifer Webster.
The project is funded by the Venezuelan Government with counterpart funding provided by Guyana.
Webster told NCN that the facility will be different from the existing Night Shelter in that the Ministry will be working to rehabilitate persons; providing them with livelihood skills which will enable them to be reintegrated into society.
A release from GINA said that the $402M shelter will accommodate 200 males and 100 females in separate dormitory facilities.
The complex will also include a medical facility to house a resident doctor, nurse, mess hall and kitchen, training room/conference hall and a recreation centre.
