Roraima Airways yesterday launched its 20th anniversary celebrations calendar, which includes events for its staff, the general public and charities.
Marketing Manager Shamaine Davis said the company will also be giving back to its loyal customers with discounts ranging from 15% to 25%. She added that aerial tours will be conducted, which would give citizens the opportunity to see the beauty of Georgetown.
The company, which was established in November 1992 by Captains Gerald and Debbie Gouveia, first operated a domestic airline doing charters in Guyana around South America and in the Caribbean with particular emphasis on executive clientele.
In a brief summary, Captain Gary Berkley said that over the years the company has expanded its range of services into ten divisions: air charters for passengers and cargo; the Duke Lodge Hotel Restaurant and Bar; Roraima Residence Inn, Restaurant and Bar; Arrowpoint Nature Resort; Roraima Tours; airline handling services; airline aviation security service; Roraima Executive and First Class Lounge; Roraima crew resting lounge; and an air medical evacuation services, which operates domestically and internationally.
Captain Gerald Gouveia recalled that the company basically began in his backyard and expressed that its expansion to ten divisions and over 200 dedicated staff members is a great achievement. He stated that Roraima Airways will expand more in the future, explaining to those in attendance that he is travelling in a couple of days to purchase some more aircraft, which will see expansion to more destinations.
