Top Berbice cyclist Neil Reece Sunday edged the in-form Dwight Holder in a thrilling finish to win the Furniture World 50-mile cycle road race last Sunday winning the Flying Ace Cycle Club event in one hour and 55 minutes.
The event, which commenced at 9.30am outside the Furniture World establishment at Main and King Streets, New Amsterdam, proceeded to Number 37 Village, Corentyne and ended at the Main and King Streets, attracted 20 participants.
Wasim Hassnu was third with Roy Millington fourth, Syborne Fernandes, fifth and Shawn Rasheed sixth.
Reece rode away with four of the prime point prizes while Holder and Hassnu grabbed one each.
Andrew Green won the beginners’ category in a close finish from Audreul
Ross with Andrew Hicks third.
Tyron Brush, Richard Alexander, Junior Quinn and Termine Hooper took the other top spots.
The beginners’ rode 20 miles starting at Adventure and finishing in front of Furniture World at Main and King Streets in New Amsterdam.
The event was held to promote awareness for domestic violence and was coordinated by cycling coach Randolph Roberts.
