Caribbean Airlines has been granted approval by government to operate direct flights to Canada.
The announcement was made by Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon at his weekly press briefing yesterday.
He said that Cabinet approved a request by the airline to operate non-stop flights to Toronto, Canada.
The airline will fly twice weekly on a non-stop schedule service to Toronto from this month. The permit expires in September 2015.
Meanwhile, Luncheon also announced that the Exec Jet Club, an aircraft charter service operating out of Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri (CJIA) has received approval from the government to build a hangar to house its operations at the airport.
The company will operate five executive-type jets and has been granted approval by Cabinet to build the 100 by 150 feet hangar to enclose its jets, as part of the company’s operations.
Founded in 2010, the company, which is billed as the first to introduce an international jet service here, already has been operating a Westwind 1 jet, which is stationed at the CJIA.
The company also operates a combo Limousine service.
According to the company’s webpage, the jet service is ideal for the business and leisure traveller who appreciates total comfort and security when travelling.
“We provide a non-stop service to the Caribbean also Brazil: Manaus, Boa Vista, and Belem, and one-stop to New York, Miami and Canada,” it said.
The company caters for weddings, funerals, promotional events and other activities which would require its jet and limo services.
Exec Jet Club’s offices are located at the corner of Quamina and Carmichael Streets in the city.
