A Linden mason was on Tuesday accused of trying to use a forged passport to leave the country.
Brentol Bryan, 33, of Linden had his bail set at $150,000 by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where he denied charges of committing a felony and uttering a forged document, and conspiring with persons unknown to present a forged Caribbean travel document proposing to be another person.
It is alleged that Bryan committed the offences between August 27 and September 9.
The prosecution stated that Bryan was an outgoing passenger at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri (CJIA), where he presented the forged Caribbean passport purporting to be someone else.
Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield stated that immigration officials then researched the document and determined that the same was a forged document.
Bryan was told of the offence then subsequently charged.
Mansfield had no objections to bail but asked that Bryan report to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) every Friday to Lance Corporal Persaud.
After the magistrate set bail with the condition sought by the prosecution, the case was adjourned until October 8, when it will be called at the Providence Magistrate’s Court.
