A police constable attached to the Berbice Narcotics Branch was early this morning found dead, shot to the head execution-style, according to Commissioner of Police Leroy Brumell, who opined that the policeman knew his killer.
Detective Constable Jirbahan Dianand, 23, according to Brumell, was discovered in his car, which was parked on a lonely road two miles from Moleson Creek.
He said detectives who are currently at the scene observed a bullet wound to the policeman’s forehead.
Brumell said that from all indications the policeman knew his killer, pointing out that the car was stopped on the lonely roadway. He was unable to provide more details.
In a subsequent statement, police said that around 5:30 am, Dianand “was found in motor car PHH 6528 on the public road at Jackson Creek, Corentyne, with a suspected gunshot wound to the head.”
He was stationed at the Molsen Creek Police Outpost and attached to the Narcotics Section, police added.
