The Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) will start as favourites when they take on the Gandhi Youth Organisation in their Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) two-day first division Carib Beer Heroes Cup competition at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground, Queenstown.
GNIC rebounded from an innings loss to Malteenoes in an earlier round of the competition to inflict the same upon Transport last weekend at DCC.
IN last weekends match, several of the GNIC batsmen found good form chief among them being Shawn De Souza who helped himself to 140 while opener Marc Nicholson struck 80.
Spinners Orlando Fraser and Ranole Bourne were in good form with the ball while seam bowler Rawle Merrell grabbed a five-wicket haul in the second innings.
GYO, on the other hand, will still be looking for a victory after suffering an innings defeat at the hands of Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) last weekend when GCC’s Robin Bacchus stroked an unbeaten double century. Nevertheless, GYO will be hoping to shrug aside that performance as they look to improved performances in the remaining rounds of the competition.
At Thomas Lands, Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) will look to continue their ascendancy in this competition as they host Transport Sports Club (TSC).
Transport faces a daunting task as they enter this game having lost their previous two matches by an innings while several Malteenoes players have shown good form in the past four matches with opener Imran Hassan and captain Steven Jacobs scoring centuries.
Seon Daniels and under-19 player Steven Sankar have been quite supportive with the ball while Kellon Carmichael has made regular breakthroughs with the new ball for MSC. Matches commence at 9.30a.m.
