PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Trinidad and Tobago will seek to boost their preparation for the Champions League T20 when they face archrivals Barbados in a tripleheader in Bridgetown next week.
Team manager Omar Khan said it was important that T&T gained match practice on bouncy pitches especially with the CLT20 being played in South Africa where the tracks were similar.
“We must say well done to the TTCB for organising the three matches in Barbados next week,” Khan said.
“It shows that the national team preparation committee is thinking as Barbados presents the closest conditions in terms of pitch nature to what we would expect in South Africa.
“The pitches there have a lot more bounce and carry than those at home and the players are all looking forward to playing there.”
The three matches against Barbados are scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Kensington Oval.
T&T’s preparations will continue with training this weekend at the National Cricket Centre in Couva, with a practice match among themselves carded for today.
Trinidad qualified for the Champions League by virtue of winning the Caribbean T20 earlier this year but face pre-tournament qualifying before they can contest the main draw from October 9-28.
They will come up against English County Yorkshire and Sri Lankan outfit Uva Next, for one of the two spots up for grabs.
