Dear Editor,
A few years ago, Bishop Juan Edgill, then Chairman of the Ethnic Relations Commission, held a one-day workshop on solving conflicts in communities. I made it my duty to be present and participated fully in all of the discussions which included a case study on conflict between two communities.
After reflecting on the behaviour of the Minister within the Ministry of Local Government towards the residents of Kwakwani, I was forced to wonder aloud whether this community workshop was really designed for residents, or was a talk shop. I strongly recommend that Minister Whittaker have a little discourse with the Junior Minister of Finance on how the Kwakwani Workshop was conducted. Maybe, he will be in a better position to respond to the majority of Kwakwani residents if or when he decides to visit again.
Yours faithfully,
Jocelyn Morian
