Former Bishop’s High School student, Rebecca Khan, is the first Guyanese to be awarded the Eric Williams Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Exams (CAPE) prize in history and received it at a simple ceremony held in Trinidad and Tobago on September 13.
Rebecca was selected for the prize after she obtained Grade ones with distinctions in unit one and two in CAPE history, a press release said. As winner of the prize she has received a laptop computer, a book and a certificate.
In a telephone interview with Stabroek News, the aspiring lawyer said that the exams were challenging but despite that she managed to succeed. She stated that she had to sacrifice her television time as well as sleep since she was up late at nights studying in preparation for the exams.
