A post-mortem examination (PME) performed on the body of 24-year-old Brian Anthony, which was found in a drain at Kara Kara, revealed that he was murdered relatives said yesterday.
According to a relative who witnessed the PME, which was done by Pathologist Dr Nehal Singh yesterday at the Lyken’s mortuary, the main cause of Anthony’s death was recorded as drowning, but the contributory factor was blunt trauma to the head and neck.
While the man’s family is preparing to bury their loved one, they are calling on the local police to launch a serious investigation into Anthony’s death.
Stabroek News was unable to ascertain the level of the current investigation by police in Linden.
Anthony’s mother, Carlene Livan, said the man with whom her son had left home, “We only know he as Daw, the two of them use to be everywhere together all the time,“ was contacted by a male family member and had promised to visit the home. “He never show up till this day,“ said Livan.
Several persons had recalled seeing Anthony in the company of several peers drinking at a popular bar along Republic Avenue the day before his body was found.
His mother had told this newspaper that “Daw” would always ensure her son got home safely after they would have gone drinking. She had also told this newspaper that it was customary that her son would leave their 101 Half Mile home and return several days later.
Several persons had opined that Anthony might have drowned in the drain, where they believed he fell while wandering in the area in a drunken state. Others felt that he was murdered and his body dumped in the drain.
