The Human Services and Social Security Ministry will commence its annual pension book distribution during the month of November throughout the ten administrative regions.
The early distribution is part of government’s effort to improve the distribution system while continuing to focus on ways to further improve the quality of lives of vulnerable citizens including, children, less fortunate and the elderly, the ministry said in a press release yesterday.
At present, they are 42,000 pensioners and over 9,000 public assistance beneficiaries the release added.
Minister of Human Services, Jennifer Webster was quoted as saying, “We are looking at improving how we distribute our pension books and the entire operation as it relates to the payment of pensions and public assistance.”
In May this year old age pensioners began receiving $10,000 per month, a 33.333% increase on the $7,500 they previously received.
