The Flying Ace Cycling Club has teamed up with the EZJet company to stage a 50-mile cycle road race in the Ancient County of Berbice on Sunday.
The event, which will commence at 9:00hrs, will see the riders pedaling off from Main and Alexander Streets, New Amsterdam, journey to Nand Persaud Rice Mill, Number 36 Village, Corentyne, and return to the starting line for the finish.
Randolph Roberts, who is the club’s head coach and coordinator of the event, has disclosed that the event is confined to cyclists from his club but most of the country’s top cyclists have indicated their intention of competing in the race as it will serve as a warm-up for the upcoming annual five-stage race.
Roberts also stated that juveniles from some Georgetown clubs have been invited to compete in the race. The juveniles will pedal off from Adventure and proceed to Main and Alexander Streets, New Amsterdam.
The top six finishers in the senior and junior categories will each be rewarded with prizes while the top veteran and female finisher will also be rewarded. There will also be eight sprint prizes up for grabs.
