A final battle for the remaining semi final spot in the New Building Society second-division limited-overs competition will see Everest Cricket Club battling Third Class today at Camp Road. The home side is currently in second place behind the Georgetown Cricket Club while Third Class is sitting 10 points behind in third. This means that the victor should be assured of a place against the first place finishers of Group B, Demerara Cricket Club. Everest’s top order batsmen, Mohan Ramdeen, Rishi Heralall, Riyyad Sattaur and Sherfane Rutherford have been in good nick recently, with Rutherford elevating himself to being one of the tournament’s leading batsmen, having teed off with a century in their last game while spinner Shaeed Mohamed and Raphael Singh have been resourceful for them with the ball. Third class have shown composure as a unit, and will rely on the all round ability of Alvin Castello and Trevor Hussein, while Ray Bryan has been their chief wicket taker.
At Malteenoes, the home side plays against the University of Guyana, although it is unlikely that either team will progress to the semi finals, with Police Sports Club looking to be the second placed finishers of group B, below the Demerara Cricket Club. Tomorrow the University of Guyana complete their round of matches in the league phase against Ace Warriors at Malteenoes as well, while the Thomas Lands side will rue the points lost by virtue of a walk over when they failed to show against Police Sports Club.
