Defending champion Patrick Prashad will be going all out to defend his crown at the Courts Guyana Inc. sponsored Golf tournament today at the Lusignan Golf Club.
The experienced Prashad won the tournament which was played under the Stableford format last year and will be looking to make it two victories in a row.
He will face stiff competition from the inform Kishun Bacchus who recently won the President’s Cup tournament, Chatterpaul Deo, a two-time tournament winner last month, Joaan Deo, a previous Courts winner among others.
The lineup will also include Rawle Moore and Fazil Haniff who finished in the top three last year as well as seasoned campaigners Avenash Persaud, William Walker, Club President Jerome Khan and Brian Hackett.
Other players to take to the course will include Alfred Mentore, Maurice Solomon, Troy Cadogan, Ronald Bulkan, Carlos Adams, Brian Tracey, Munaff Arjune, Mohanlall Dinnanauth, Christine Sukhram, Robert Hanoman, Dr. Ram Singh, Colin King, Ayube Subhan, Mark Lashley, Mike Mangal, Mike Guyadin and Clifford Reis.
The tournament forms part of the local furniture giants 19th Anniversary celebrations of operations in Guyana being observed this month. Courts Country Manager Clyde DeHass earlier this week presented the sponsorship cheque and trophies to Secretary of the Lusignan Golf Club Dave Mohamed and Treasurer Mark Lashley at Courts head office on Main Street.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers as well as nearest to the pin.
The sponsors are also likely to provide tokens to the players.
Courts executives are expected to be on hand to present the prizes to the outstanding players at the end of the tournament.
