Archaeologist and historian, Dr Anthony Browder, will be hosting two lectures in Guyana as part of his lecture tour across the Caribbean that is focused on enlightening persons about black history.
The first lecture will be take place tomorrow at the Umana Yana at 5 pm, while the second will be held on Tuesday at 3pm at the University of Guyana Education Lecture Theatre.
Tomorrow’s lecture will be on ‘The Restoration of Cultural Memory: Why Black History Matters’, to be followed on Tuesday by ‘Black History: Lost, Stolen and Restored.’ which will the topic for Tuesday’s session.
Browder is also the first black man to excavate a tomb in Egypt.
He is currently working on the excavation of Karakhamun‘s tomb where he has been engaged in extensive archaeological work for the past few years.
Dr Browder, who has lectured extensively in Africa, Europe, Japan and his home country, the United States, said yesterday at a press conference that he is pleased to be here and talk to the people in Guyana about Egypt, so they can have a greater appreciation of the importance of knowing their history.
He also said that the lectures are primarily intended for African people, but anyone who is interested in learning is invited to attend, because it is not just about black history but world history.
