KINGSTON, Jamaica (Jamaica Observer) – The St James police have taken one man into custody for questioning in connection with a fatal stabbing on the weekend of an Austrian national who was staying in Greenwood, St James.
Policed reports are that Saturday at about 2:00am Rathnayr was awakened by two masked men who entered the one-bedroom rented apartment he was staying at Poincianna Drive, Greenwood by way of a window that was left half open.
The Austrian received stab wounds during a struggle which ensue between himself and his attackers. He was taken to the Falmouth Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The Austrian, who was said to be a frequent visitor to the island, reportedly arrived in Jamaica on June 4, 2012.
The Barrett Town Police are investigating.
