(Barbados Nation) Barbados’ private sector has come in for a tongue-lashing for abandoning agriculture and thinking all investments should instead be made in concrete, construction or tourism.
President of the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS), James Paul, believes the private sector needs to understand accomplishing food security is a sure-fire way to ease Barbados out of the current economic recession.
Speaking at a Press conference yesterday, Paul said it was time for the lip service to stop.
“When it comes to tourism, the private sector would bend over backwards to invest. And sometimes that earns ten cent of every dollar spent.”
