The Bailiff of the Habibulla stable, ridden by Raj Drepaul create a major upset in winning the feature C and Lower event at the Rising Sun Turf Club in collaboration with Banks DIH Limited grand one day horse race meet at the Rising Sun Turf Club Arima Park West Coast Berbiceon Sunday.
The Bailiff defeated a field of 12 other horses with Score’s Even and Donut Prince, placing second and third respectively in the feature event.
Fourth place in the 1400m event went to Celebrating Love.
The win was worth $700,000 and the Banks DIH Trophy.
Settle in Seattle of the Shariff Stable ridden by Jamaican Brian Blake won convincingly in the race for Guyana and West Indies-bred three-year-old horses. Settle in Seatlle settled for the first prize of $350,000 and a trophy in the 1400M event with Roxana, Feels Like gold and Princess Kiara occupying the next three places. The E and lower race was won by Technology of the Elcock stable from The Bailiff and Majestic.
Technology’s win was worth $320,000 and a trophy.
Ameera’s Joy, of the Bacchus stable ran away with the Two-year-old event for Guyana and West Indies-bred horses over a distance of 110m.
The win was worth 300,000. Gold Princess, Wild Grinder and the Legend occupied the next three places.
War Craft owned and trained by Marcel Crawford SC and skillfully ridden by Winston Appadu, won the G class 1400M event ahead of Sleeping Thong, Stormy Lass and Gabriel’s Gold to take the $220,000 prize and trophy.
Silent Night, of the Shariff stable, won the $100,000 Guyana-bred two-year-old 100M event from Royal Passion, Rainbow Flyer and Spice.
The H and lower event saw Jockey Paul Delph guiding Joyful victory of the Jadgeo stable to victory to take the $200,000 prize and trophy over 1300M. Royal Time of the Ross stable was the winner of the I class 1100M event ahead of Mona Lisa, Golden Reprise and Prixe Fire. There was another win for the Bacchus stable as Hard Runnings, trained by Lakeram Sukhdeo, won the JKL event and the $100,000 prize and trophy over 1100M.
Veteran Jockey Desmond was adjudged top Jockey while Mohammed Nankoo Shariff took the top trainer award. The Shariff Racing Stable made sure there were no hindrances as it took charge of proceedings to be adjudged the top stable.
They all received accolades compliments of The Trophy Stall Bourda market and the organizers. Over 85 horses participated in the day’s proceedings and close to $6M in cash was on offer.
