Tenders were yesterday opened at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) for rehabilitation works at President’s College, computers for the citizens’ security programme, and security service at the zoo among others.
As regards the President’s College rehabilitation, the engineer’s estimate was $6,859,670, which the school’s Parent/Teachers Association said seemed meagre considering the amount of work that needs to be done.
However, the PTA said it welcomed the project. Given the current shoddy state of the educational institution, the PTA is relieved that the repairs will soon commence. “The $6 million can’t do the work needed for the complete overhaul the school needs right now… I don’t know which area it will be used in. We hope its rehab to the current electrical system they have because it’s a danger,” PTA President Abdul Wickam told Stabroek News yesterday.
