(Jamaica Gleaner) More than 60 people have been left homeless following a fire which destroyed several houses in sections of West Kingston this afternoon.
The fire wiped out an entire block comprising residential dwellings and a few business establishments on Regent Street, Beeston Street and Chestnut Lane.
Residents wept openly as they hopelessly watched their possessions going up in flames.
Our news centre was informed that an infant had to be rescued from a building by men in the area.
And as the fire blazed, tempers flared as residents complained that three of five trucks came to the scene without water.
Three fire units and a water truck later arrived as fire personnel tried to contain the blaze.
Latest accounts indicate that six houses and one business place were affected by the fire.
