The Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) recently treated an eight-member party comprising winners from two recent trade fairs to a day tour of the Essequibo River as it continues to promote local tourism or ‘Staycation.’
In a press release, the GTA said the tour party members won quiz competitions it hosted during the recent Building Expo and Berbice Expo and included Mr Jairam, Kayreen Stephenson, Chris Deen, Chris Davis, Francis Cunje and Julian Amsterdam. The lucky winners were offered the trip of a lifetime to explore the many islands along the river.
The scenic tour began as tour guide and proprietor of Old Fort Tours Camille Boodhoo welcomed the party aboard the river boat which 25 minutes later, docked at Fort Island. The group also journeyed to Fort Zeelandia, Saxacalli and Bartica. They then visited the market and the Barakara Falls.
The group thought the experience was great and many said they would do it again. They all vowed to attend the upcoming GuyExpo to try to win another chance to bring their families and friends along on other trips.
The GTA also facilitated another recent trip to Kaieteur Falls for a group of persons who won contests at the Building Expo and Berbice Expo and for the top performers at this year’s CSEC exams.
