The Bridges organisation and the Deskan Institute and Training Inc are hosting two free medical clinics at the Fort Wellington Hospital in Berbice and at the Project Dawn building at Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara today, between 9 am and 5 pm.
Teams made up of 28 doctors from the United States and Canada, will conduct free ear, nose, throat, heart, paediatrics and HIV/AIDS screening at the two sites. A dentist will also be at the Fort Wellington Hospital to attend to patients. After being examined, persons will then be given free medication.
Everyone is invited to attend the event regardless if they have a medical problem or not, since a General Practitioner will be at both sites to conduct general examinations.
Director and Coordinator of the project, Dr Joan Liverpool, said education sessions informing people about healthy lifestyles will also be done at the clinics. She also said that her team is conducting clinics here based on the approval of the Ministry of Health.
The organisation is here on its 10th annual visit.
