Albion and the Young Warriors cricket clubs will clash today at the Cumberland ground in Canje in the second semi-final of the Berbice Cricket Board/Ramcharitar Construction Services limited overs tournament.
The winner will meet Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets in the final on October 6.
In today’s semi-final, Young Warriors will be keen to defeat Albion and advance to their first, first-division final. They will depend heavily on the batting which will be led by national player Gajanand Singh with support from fellow national player Richard Ramdeen, Seon Hetmyer, Ishwar Singh, Shimron Hetmyer, Kevin Ramdeen and Vishal Mohabir. The bowling, led by left-arm pacer Devendra Ramoutar, will also include medium pacer Akram Rahaman and spinners Kevin Ramdeen, Gajanand Singh, Balram Samaroo and Richard Ramdeen. Albion is likely to be without Sewnarine Chattergoon, following the death of his mother, while Narsingh Deonarine, is also likely to be absent.
In the absence of the two West Indies players, Albion’s batting would depend heavily on the hard hitting Joanthan Foo, Surujnarine Kandasammy, Balchan Baldeo, Sharaz Ramcharran and Devendra Bishoo who last weekend scored his first century. Albion’s strength over the years has been their never-say-die attitude in the field and their all-spin bowling attack which consists of off-spinners Veerapen Permaul, David Latchana, Sharaz Ramcharran, leg spinners Avinash Wazid, Bishoo and left-arm orthodox spinner Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai.
The match bowls off at 9.30am.
