A teacher is being questioned by the police in relation to her eight-year-old daughter who was burnt with hot water earlier last week and is currently being treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The teacher has since given a statement to the police about the incident and is expected to return to the police station tomorrow. Her daughter, Beyonce Depeazer, is nursing burns about her body in the Paediatric Ward.
When Stabroek News visited their home yesterday, a relative said that despite reports of it being an intentional act, it was an accident.
“The water was accidentally spilled on the child… it wasn’t even a pot, it was a normal mug… the girl entire skin hasn’t been burnt,” the relative said.
