(Trinidad Express) A Hindu pundit appeared in the Siparia Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with nine counts of having sexual intercourse with a minor.
Father of four, Devinand Jaglalsingh, was not called upon to plead to the indictable charges.
It was alleged that between 2008 and 2012, Jaglalsingh, 44, had sex with a girl under the age of 14 at a location in Siparia.
Siparia Magistrate Gail Gonzales placed Jaglalsingh on TT$300,000 bail, with the conditions that he keeps 100 metres away from the alleged victim and also to make no contact with her.
The case was adjourned to October 28.
Bar owner Dale Twitt also faced the magistrate yesterday. He was charged with having an unlicensed 9 mm gun at his businessplace and possession of marijuana.
Twitt, 35, pleaded guilty to having the .8 grammes of the illegal drug which was found after officers executed a search warrant at his house at Clarke Road, Penal.
Gonzales ordered that he pay TT$3,000 in 14 days or serve six months hard labour.
