Murder accused Mahadeo Seewah yesterday pleaded guilty to the lesser offence of manslaughter when his trial for killing Banand Persaud was called before Justice Diana Insanally in the High Court yesterday.
Seewah admitted to killing Persaud, between April 22 and April 23, in 2007 at the Mon Repos Fresh Water Fish Farm. Persaud was chopped to death and his body dragged from a guard hut and dumped in a trench. A canister containing cash and a generator were removed from his workplace.
Seewah was represented by attorney George Thomas. A probation report was also requested on his behalf to be presented at the sentencing, which is expected to be done on October 17.
