Truck driver Iran Narine was yesterday granted $100,000 bail after he denied fraudulently converting the proceeds of pipes he was asked to sell to his own use.
The Georgetown Magistrates’ Court heard that between January 1 and January 31, Narine, 65, of Essequibo, received six pipes, valued at $360,000, which he was entrusted to sell and then return the proceeds to Ashim Pashaw. The court was told that he failed to do so.
No further details related to the fraudulent conversion charge were given to the court. With the prosecution having no objections to bail, Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry set bail and adjourned the case to November 1 for statements in Court One.
