Two men are currently in police custody after they attempted to rob Eccles, East Bank Demerara businessman Ravi Singh on Tuesday morning.
Singh, 33, was confronted by the two men, who posed as Guyana Power and Light Company (GPL) meter readers, as he entered his yard around 9:50am, the police said in a press release. One of the men was armed with a hand gun.
Public-spirited citizens who observed the incident informed the police and a mobile patrol that was in the area responded promptly. The two men were then arrested and a .32 snub nose revolver with three rounds were recovered. The two men are in police custody and will be charged shortly.
