The Fortune/Forde Super Mile is set for National Park on November 13 a where prizes of up to $10,000 will be up for grabs.
Local sprint queen Alisha Fortune and former sprinter Caroline Forde are hosting the race in four categories: the open, junior, under-16 and masters for both men and women. Both sprinters hail from Beterverwagting and Fortune believes that the race will be a good way to contribute to their community and to the nation.
The first, second and third place finishers will walk away with $10,000, $8,000 and $5,000 respectively. Prizes will also be given to both the oldest and youngest participating man and woman.
With sponsors such as Ansa McAl, Farfan and Mendes, Geddes Grant Trading, Trophy Stall and a few others on board, a special prize will be given to Beterverwagting villagers who cross the line in the top three places.
