This year’s annual national schools table tennis championships will be held from October 19-21 according to a press release from the Guyana Table tennis Association following the granting of the sponsorship by
telecommunications giant Digicel Guyana Limited.
According to a press release from the GTTA, Digicel, sponsors of the last two school championships, has “reaffirmed its commitment to the Guyana Table tennis Association.”
This was done by Digicel’s Marketing Manager and former national sprinter Gavin Hope on October 1, stated the release.
The event will be held at the National Gymnasium, and, according to the release, the tournament has become an avenue for the discovery of new talent.
Schools from Regions 2 , 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10 will compete for honours.
“Last year saw an unprecedented number of schools from across Guyana which led to the championships having to be extended for an additional two days and based on the interest being generated around table tennis circles, the tourney should be scintillating, “the GTTA press release added.
The tournament will be launched by GTTA and Digicel executives on the October 17 at Digicel’s boardroom, Kingston.
