With just over three weeks to go before the premier Guyana Open local golfers will be involved in three warm up tournaments over the next three weekends.
On Saturday the King’s Jewellery World Medal Play tournament, now in its third year, provides the perfect environment for the golfers as they battle for several attractive prizes at stake at the Lusignan Golf Club.
The sponsors have already indicated that there will be several special prizes up for grabs and these will be additional incentives for the players to perform to their optimum.
William Walker was the winner of the inaugural tournament sponsored by King’s Jewellery two years ago while Rita Heikens claimed championship honours last year.
Players to watch will include last weekend’s winner Colin Ming, Kassim Bacchus, Kishan Bacchus and Mohanlall Dinnanath.
But they face still opposition from Jerome Khan, Patrick Prashad, Mark Lashley, Mike Guyadin, Christine Sukhram, Joaan Deo, Brian Hackett, Robert Hanoman, Troy Cadogan, Gavin Todd, Clifford Reis, Maurice Solomon, Rawle Moore, Mike Mangal and Dr. Ram Singh.
Tee off is at 12:30 hours.
Next Saturday, the MACORP tournament will tee off while the following weekend overseas players will begin arriving for the Guyana Open and will compete in the Digicel two-day Classic on October 27 and 28.
The prestigious Guyana will be played off November 3-4 with over 70 players expected to compete.
