The Indian Cultural Centre will screen the 1977 film Bhumika: The Role today from 5.30 pm at its Lot 67 New Haven, Bel Air, Georgetown premises.
According to a press release, the film, directed by acclaimed director Shyam Benegal tells the story of Usha (Smita Patil) who is from a poor family but who has talents as a singer and actress. Her mother encourages her to go with an older man who then exploits her in the film industry. Usha meets and marries another man who abuses her. She then escapes and ends
