Gynura aurantiaca commonly called Purple velvet plant, as its name suggests has a rich purple velvety look and texture. It is native to India and Indonesia.
This exotic plant will add colour to any collection. The saw-toothed leaves are carried on long purple stems which are covered with fine purplish, downy hair.
The Purple Velvet Plant is a vigorous grower, and will quickly develop into a neat little bush if you pinch the top shoots. It can grow on the patio or window sill where it will get bright light, but it should not be placed in direct sunlight. Trim the plant to keep attractive Water moderately and fertilize with Miracle Gro All Purpose once every two weeks.
It can be grown from cuttings.
