The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club along with the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) will today stage a Day of Cricket Champions at the Albion Community Centre Ground.
The Day of Champions event will see the top two teams in Berbice Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets and Albion Community Centre opposing the two top teams from Demerara, GCC and the Demerara Cricket Club.
Secretary of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, Hilbert Foster and vice president of GCC Ramsay Ali are the organizers of the event which is being held in honour of Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports club first Test Player Assad Fudadin.
The organisers would also make a financial donation to ailing former West Indies player Ivor Mendonca while West Indies cricketer Shivnarine Chanderpaul will be honoured in his absence due to the Champions League for his contribution to West Indies cricket.
Albion Community Centre will play DCC in the first match at 10am while Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets will play GCC at 1pm.
Among the cricketers expected to be part of the Carib Beer Day of Champions are Fudadin, Narsingh Deonarine, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Veerasammy Permaul, Leon Johnson, Devendra Bishoo, Darwin Christian and Christopher Barnwell.
Other players including Rajiv Ivan, Jonathan Foo, Paul Wintz, Vishal Singh, Shawn Pereira, Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai, Andrew Lyght Jnr and Robin Bacchus will also be in action.
The event main sponsors would be Ansa Mcal under its Carib Beer and Sterling products.
