Attorney Vic Puran died in an accident last night on the Mahaicony branch road.
His car was found early this morning. He had apparently lost control of the car and it ran into the trench. His vehicle was seen this morning overturned and when it was inspected he was seen inside. His body was later removed. Puran would usually visit the area to transport feed for a livestock business he has in the area.
Puran died on his 57th birthday according to his long time friend attorney at law Glen Hanoman. He said that he met Puran more than 25 years ago before he (Puran) was admitted to the local bar.
He said that from all indications the death was nothing more than a tragic vehicular accident. Hanoman who was speaking to this newspaper via telephone from the scene said that the turn is a steep one and Puran might have mis-averaged the turn resulting in the wheel slipping into the trench and the vehicle turning turtle.
He said that after he did not return home last night, his worried wife Amanda contacted him and they both searched and tried to make contact with Puran but failed. Puran left home sometime after 5 pm. According to Hanoman, Amanda would have last night passed the area where Puran’s car was but she would not have seen it since that area is dark and the vehicle was partially submerged.
Puran, a father of four was a former magistrate and upon returning to private practice was a defence counsel and special prosecutor in many high profile cases.
He was also the attorney of self confessed drug lord Roger Khan who is currently serving time in a US jail.
