TORONTO, Canada, CMC- Two Grenadian-born athletes have finished in the top rankings of their respective events in the 2012 National Track League (NTL) of Canada.
Jumper Patricia Sylvester shared the Long Jump event with Alice Falaiye on 29 points.
Also, hurdler Phylicia George, whose parents are Grenadians, was second overall in the rankings in the Women’s 100m Hurdles with 21 points.
Sylvester and George of Project Athletics (PATF) were also ranked number one in the Province of Ontario.
Sylvester also received an award for her achievements in the Long and Triple Jumps with marks of 6.60m and 13.41m respectively.
Earlier this year, Sylvester had also topped the Province’s Indoor Rankings for the Long and Triple Jumps.
George led the Senior Women’s 100m rankings with 11.25 seconds at the Quantum Invitational Track & Field Classic in Trinidad in May.
Also included in the rankings are Grenadian athletes Sherine Wells and Janelle Redhead in the 100m with 11.50 and 11.70 seconds respectively.
The two Grenadian athletes were also in the top five of the 200m.
Redhead was fourth overall with 23.59 seconds and Wells in fifth with 23.60 seconds.
Redhead also was ranked third in the Province of Ontario in the Senior Women’s 400m with 54.50 seconds.
