Ina Roberts, the mother of three who was set on fire by a man at Mahdia backdam, was discharged from the Georgetown Hospital yesterday her reputed husband, Lionel Fowler said.
Roberts, 25, and of 58 Miles, Mabura, sustained burns to her face and hands as a result of the attack which took place around 4 am on Thursday. A cloth that was soaked with gasoline was lit and thrown into the hammock the woman was sleeping in by an unknown man who apparently took her for someone else.
Roberts was asleep in a hammock at a camp in Mahdia when her husband recalled hearing her screaming only to see his wife’s hammock in flames. Her husband had also said that he ran to his wife’s assistance and pulled her out of the hammock. He then managed to extinguish the flames and took her to the Mahdia Hospital. She was later transferred to the Georgetown Hospital.
