Winners of the Mackeson Smooth Moves 3-on-3 basketball competition, the Pitbulls, yesterday collected their one millions dollars cash prize from Ansa McAl’s Marketing Director Troy Cadogan at the company’s Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara Head Office.
The second place finisher Bounty Colts received a two hundred thousand dollars cash prize while last year’s winners, Pacesetters received $100,000 for their third place finish. The three teams also received a forty thousand cash incentive as zone winners.
Collecting the one million dollars cash prize for the Pitbulls were Ryan Gullen, Ryan Stephney, Jermaine Slater and Akeem Kanhai.
Cadogan, in addressing the players before the presentation, said he was impressed with the skills displayed throughout the competition but added that he was disappointed that there seems to be an absence of formal basketball competition at the second and third division levels.
This is the second year for the competition which aims to develop the sport from the grassroots level.
