-Ramdeen slams ton for Everest

Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) on Saturday grabbed first innings points against the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) in a low-scoring encounter of the Georgetown Cricket Association’s (GCA) Noble House Seafoods second division two-day competition at the MYO ground.
Batting first Malteenoes SC scored 161 all out in a mere 29.4 overs with Keifa Naughton making the top score of 48.
Bowling for MYO, Imtiaz Pooran captured 4-16.
In reply, MYO came tantalizingly close only to fall two runs short being dismissed for 159 in 25 overs. Zamal Khan hit 52 while Antonell Atwell snared 6-49 for Malteenoes who finished on 43 without loss at the close of play in their second innings. Delvon McEwan was not out on 26 and Rockeal Greene not out 11.
At GNIC, the home team batting first against Third Class made 222 all out in 47 overs with Jason Melville falling eight runs short of a century. He made 92.
All rounder Alvin Castello bagged 4-42 with his medium pace while spinner Ray Brian supported with 3-61.
Third Class in their reply were 111-5 after 33 overs at the close of play. Trevor Hussain made 31 and Castello 20. Orlando Kurten has so far taken 2 for 32.
At YMCA, Everest Cricket Club batting first against Vikings reached 303 for 8 declared.
Captain Khemraj Ramdeen hit 107 with six sixes and six fours while Riyad Sattaur supported with 62 an innings that included five fours and one six. Raphael Singh and Dinesh Mangal chipped in with 23 and 22 runs respectively.
Seamer Shane Bacchus, who took early wickets with his ‘slinging’ action, finished with 5 for 53 while Ravi Bacchus chipped in with 3 for 26.
In reply, Vikings reached 50-3 at close of play with Javid Rasheed claiming all of the wickets to fall.
At the Gandhi Youth Organisation ground, the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) won the toss and invited Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) to bat a move that paid dividends as GCC were subsequently bowled out for 142 in 35 overs. Alex Ramalho top scored with 41 while Manny Forde supported with 30.
GCC, 102-3 at one stage crumbled to the leg spin of Clint Grant who took 6 for 67.
DCC ended the day on 148 for 5 after being reduced to 52 for 5. Captain Lawrence Smith was on 64 not out and Xaviee Smith 51 not out at the close.
