The continuation of two trials was yesterday postponed because the presiding judge, Justice Diana Insanally, had to make an appearance at the Court of Appeal.
As a result, the sentencing of Mahadeo Seewah, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 2007 killing of Banand Persaud and the voir dire in the trial of murder accused Cyon Collier, called ‘Picture Boy,’ were adjourned to today.
Seewah admitted to killing Persaud, between April 22 and April 23, in 2007 at the Mon Repos Fresh Water Fish Farm. Seewah chopped Persaud to death and dragged his body from a guard hut and dumped it into a trench.
Seewah will be sentenced today after a probation report is presented to the court.
Meanwhile, Collier is accused of killing Ray Walcott and Carl Andrews at Victoria on September 23, 2006. The case against Collier is that while the brothers were onlookers at a game of dominoes, he rode up on a motorcycle and began chatting with the players.
Collier then began talking with the men, after which he started shooting, it is claimed, and Walcott and Andrews were fatally shot.
