The Mayor and City Council says the disruption in the regular garbage collection schedule for some wards is due to the malfunctioning of its trucks.
In a press release, the City Council said the challenges with its fleet of vehicles has resulted in the slowing down in the collection in certain areas, including Queenstown, Alberttown, South Cummingsburg, North Cummingsburg, Kingston, Woolford Avenue, Carifesta Avenue, Thomas Lands, East and West Ruimveldt, North East La Penitence and Middle Road.
The Council said it is doing everything practicable to fix its trucks and restart this service. In the meantime it advises the public against paying any sums demanded by its staff to collect garbage. The public can report any demands for money to the Public Relations department on telephone number 225-2218.
