Phillip Knights, 18, was yesterday remanded to prison on a charge of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Knights, of Lot 167 Hunter Street, Albouystown, was allegedly found with three grammes of cocaine in his possession by police ranks, who conducted a search on him, Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry was told at the Georgetown Magistrates Court.
Knights pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Prosecutor Kerry Bostwich noted that police officers were on patrol and conducted searches on a number of individuals, which led to the discovery of the cocaine in a small white plastic container.
Bostwich added that Knight was then arrested and charged with the present offence.
The prosecutor objected to bail due to the seriousness of the offence and the accused was remanded to prison until November 1 for reports and fixtures.
