Applications for the 2013/2014 Chevening Scholarships, which are awarded for a one year master’s programme in any subject area at any university in the United Kingdom (UK), are now open, the British High Commission has announced.
The scholarships are awarded to exceptional individuals with leadership potential for a one year master’s programme in the UK, the British High Commission said in a press release. The scholars are personally selected by the British High Commissions and British Embassies throughout the world, sometimes in partnership with sponsoring organisations.
The release noted that priority areas vary from country to country.
The scholarships, which are funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations, operate in over one hundred countries worldwide and will support about 700 students this year.
The scholarships are also aimed at supporting UK foreign policy priorities by creating lasting positive relationships with future leaders, influencers and decision makers around the world.
Applicants can check the country pages at www.chevening. org before submitting an application for the scholarship.
