Kishan Bacchus continued to show impressive form this season as he shares the first day lead with Rawle Moore at the fourth Annual Digicel two-day golf Classic at the Lusignan Golf Course yesterday.
Bacchus who won the prestigious President’s Cup last month shot net 67 to share the lead the Club Captain Moore who also shot 67.
Carlos Adams and Fazil Hannif were tied on net 69 while three players US-based Salim Rasheed, debutant Orlando Deo and defending ladies champion were on net 70.
Several of the seasoned players found the going tough on the opening day and will be looking to catch up when play resumes at 09:00 hours today.
Among the players trailing were defending champion Canadian Roger Rajkumar who shot net 78 but said he will be pressing hard on the final day. Even birthday boy William Walker had little to celebrate on the course.
Bacchus playing off 13 handicap and Moore on 14 handicap will be looking to capitalize on their early lead while Suhkram looked comfortable to defend her title against lone opponent Joaan Deo who shot 72.
Thirty eight players are battling for top honours in the two-day event sponsored by local telephone provider Digicel.
Digicel’s Chief Executive Officer Gregory Deane did the ceremonial tee off at 09:30 yesterday to send the players off.
The big question remains, who will wear the Red Jacket when the tournament ends later today?
The Classic is the final warm up before next weekend’s Banks DIH Sponsored Guyana Open which opens next Saturday at Lusignan.
