-projects turnover of $7B for 2012
ANSA McAl Trading Ltd (AMTL) celebrated its 20th anniversary last week, boasting of a projected $7B in turnover for 2012 and playing up its planned mega investment in biofuels.
Having entered the Guyanese market in 1992, the company has grown over the past two decades in areas of investment, research and development, and is quite excited about its future potential. These were the sentiments expressed by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Anthony Sabga on Friday at a reception, according to a Government Information Agency press release.
Sabga pointed out that the company, through its business development arm, is currently conducting a feasibility study for a US$300M biofuel project in Guyana where it plans to set up a sugar cane plantation capable of producing a minimum of 2,000,000 metric tons of high sucrose cane per year, and 40,000,000 gallons of ethanol, along with approximately 175,000 metric tons of raw sugar per year.
GINA said that President Donald Ramotar welcomed the company’s investments in the country.
In the October 26th issue of this newspaper, the company announced that it is looking forward to the introduction of the ANSA Abel Clay block in 2013, which will offer a lighter, stronger block that has the added benefits of being impervious to water, heat resistant, and provides a cooler environment. The company also made mention of it new TK4 clay plant, which is supposed to be completed in the second quarter of 2013. Once completed, the plant will be the largest of its kind in the English speaking Caribbean.
The company said that the rapid growth of AMTL could be directly attributed to a dynamic group of young professionals led by visionary management. In recognition that its employees are its greatest assets, ANSA said that it has a personnel development plan that sees numeracy, literacy and computer studies training being provided in-house.
ANSA McAL says it is one of the largest distribution companies in Guyana, servicing approximately 95% of the population with hundreds of products including pharmaceuticals, construction solutions, consumer goods and beverages.
