Richard Singh, the 20-year-old man who was involved in an accident at Plantation Hope, East Coast Demerara, on October 15 is improving and is now able to speak his uncle, Imran Khan, said yesterday.
Singh was discharged from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Georgetown Hospital on Monday and is now a patient of the Male Surgical Ward his uncle added. His uncle also mentioned that he is now able to communicate with relatives and friends.
Singh sustained head injuries in the accident that claimed the life of his 18-year-old cousin, Padma Narine.
Narineโs four siblings and her parents also sustained injuries while the driver and his family escaped unhurt.
The driver of the bus, who is a neigbour of the family, was speeding and was told by the girlโs father, Rajendra Narine, to slow down before the accident.
The driver, however, refused to slow down and lost control of the vehicle which hit a rail and ran into a nearby trench. Padma was pulled from the vehicle dead.
